Work in Gent- Thurs

Thurs was a long day. Sarah Pfeil watched all 4 kids while the rest of the team went to Gent to meet with the pastor of the church plant we will be working with while here. All week we have been having training on church planting- on procedures and learning the best way to do it etc, and now we are matched up with a local church (well 1 1/2 hour train ride away) to help for the month with projects and research etc. The pastor of the church wants us to work on networking with local jazz clubs in the area to get them to come out to the church to help with worship or special events. They are also working on a project called the Eye Of Brussles- there are many major cities around the area where Brussels is the center that they want to get hooked together. We have quiet a lot of work to do! Claudia and I came back on the train ahead of the men so we could help with the kids for dinner. We made all of the transitions ok and got back safely. We almost took a wrong train though. The village we are staying in is called Zaventem, but the airport is also Zaventem- some trains are expresses and only go to the airport, they do not stop at the village so we had to figure that one out and move to a different train so we could get home.
It has been interesting learning about church planting procedure and then getting to see it first hand and even participate a little bit. We look forward to the rest of the month as we work on this and get to know the pastor better.
