Kakizome

On Saturday Kevin and Meg went to an event held by the school called Kakizome. It is the first calligraphy writing of the new year and was Meg's first time to try calligraphy. Kevin said this is pretty much how she looked all morning. She really has not had much practice at all with Japanese characters- especially kanji so it was a little frusterating for her. The highlight of her day was sitting next to her friend Kotaha (a 1st grader on the Japanese side of the school) and that she got to use ink and a brush. According to her, she has ALWAYS wanted to use ink to write. She is very interested in learning Japanese so we hope to be starting soon introducing the characters to her. This should help at church if she is able to read and follow along with the songs. She came home very happy and proudly showed off what she had done- so we know she enjoyed herself!
