A Mission in Augusta!

We had the privilege to stay with one of the neatest couples we have ever met this weekend while in Augusta for Joshua Meyers’ wedding. The couple is actively involved in ministering to and discipling med school students in downtown Augusta. The husband himself is a pediatrician and while in med school had a vision and passion for reaching the campus and went against all he was told “that he was too busy and should wait to do ministry once he was done”. It was really neat to hear how a group of 4 young men at the time struggled together and poured over the Bible as well as their textbooks and sought how to do ministry where they were at. Now there is a thriving ministry and they have duplicated what they have done on numerous medical school campuses.

We were so ministered to by this family as we saw how they desired to raise their two small children to be missional and be involved in ministry no matter where they are. It was refreshing for us to see how in every area of their life they desire to be involved in ministry- from having a house that is always open to others (outside visitors like us, as well as med students), to making it a priority in his job that he is not working tons of hours and has time to be involved in discipleship training. As we so often are going to talk to people about Kingdom advancement, it was nice for us to see how others are so involved in this same endeavor.
