Baby sale

Today we got up at 5 am and went to the Howard County Fairgrounds to sell off a bunch of our baby/kid stuff. As we have been weeding through trying to keep only essentials or things that we will actually use in Japan- we have put together MANY bags of stuff- mostly toys that the kids no longer use or things that are just too big and we will not have room for in Japan. We filled a 12 x 12 space. I never thought we would have enough stuff to fill that size space, but lo and behold, we filled it nicely. It was a great day as all of the big stuff was taken and we got rid of a lot, but it was also hard to part with so many things that the kids have loved and gotten great use out of, and mommy has an emotional attachment to. Meg had noticed earlier in the week that her kitchen was missing, (mind you- the kids had not really played with it for a month or so), but she wanted to know where it went. We had a talk about things that can not come to Japan with us because we will not have room or that we had to get rid of the things that she and Ty no longer plays with. She was upset, but seems to be dealing with it. It is a hard mix to try to weed stuff out that we just can;t take and at the same time make the kids feel secure that all of their stuff is not being taken away from them. While I know in the short run the kids will feel upset about stuff 'gone missing', I know that in the long run they will not really notice or care. Besides, once we get to Japan most of their time will be playing outside and with new friends.
