Meg's school lunch

Here is a taste of a typical Meg school lunch. I say Meg school lunch because it is not exactly what the Japanese kids take to school- but yet it is far closer to it than sending her with a PB&J!! They do not do lunch like we do in the states. All of the kids bring a warm lunch- like what you might eat for dinner and the teachers heat it up for them. Most always it consists of rice on the bottom layer (where the fries are- Meg is not too fond of rice yet- we are still trying to convert her!!) and then different things on the top layer. I only send lunch certain days because the other days they make lunch at school- they have cooking class. Meg has been very good about trying the foods that they serve her there, but she normally comes home and tells me "it did not taste very good".


Here is an outside look at her "obento box"- basically a lunch box- where the lunch food goes. She has great fun opening her school bag and seeing what is in there and eating with all of the children. She has enjoyed staying all day- as she puts it "until all the moms come", so we are glad that she seems to have settled.
